It’s a big day over here!
The girls have now gotten their own vehicles… Both are electric with mid-range mileage; just right for what they need.
The biggest deal was making sure we have the car insurance added appropriately. I went to Shelter, where I’ve been a customer for over 25 years for all of my vehicles, home owners insurance, renter’s insurance, and life insurance policies. They went through all of the options and quoted me fairly, compared to all others out there, that they had access to. It was a painless process, so now we are good to go to the DMV and get all things moved over.
My 15 year old has had his permit for over a year, and the driving portion was completed about 6 months ago. We recently applied for the hardship license, so we will have a court hearing in the next few weeks to see if it is approved. He does have a job in the afternoons, siblings that can’t take him to school, due to their scheduling conflicts, and his mom has a job that conflicts also, so it shouldn’t be an issue. I just have to provide all of the documentation, and we will most likely get approved. Then, back to insurance company to get him added.. at least he has 3.0 + GPA and that is supposed to help.
These kids are all growing up on me, and my driveway has 4 cars now. lol
My oldest is working on getting a job, just created their first resume, so hoping they find something suitable soon. In the meantime, she’s taking occasional babysitting jobs for friends, and that’s helping her gain experience.
My youngest is not ready to take the permit test, but he is old enough… I’m sure it won’t be long and he will be asking when can he drive my car? haha
