Riding the Wave

When you have 4 kids, it’s inevitable that there will be numerous doctor visits in our schedules.

I can tell you that last week alone, I had 6 doctor visits; all for the kids. I had to step away from work each of the days for 2 + hours. I don’t mind taking them to the doctor for checks ups, or if they’re truly sick. But, these were painful visits for me.. orthodontist follow ups, ADD testing for 2 kids, and mental health screening. In addition to those, there was a physical due for my daughter, and now we have referrals after that appointment. (sigh) She has a crooked spine, so we scheduled a visit later this week for the orthopedic doctor. Her pediatrician also thinks she should be tested for Autism. This is based on her communication skill at the appointment, and looking back at her behavioral chart over the years.. hmmm.. we will schedule the test b/c that is what they recommend.. but we will see what those test results reveal.. There is a 9 month wait for that, I found out.. I personally think she just has anxiety with large crowds, working under pressure with deadlines, etc. Who doesn’t? Anyway, the week prior, I took her to be tested for mono and anemia, based on her symptoms and she told me she thought it was just very much like mono she had in 2022. We didn’t ever get the final results, but during the physical, the doctor stated that they showed she has mono once again. wow! No wonder she was feeling so worn out! My 13 year old son is being referred to a therapist, so that he can develop skills to cope with his disinterest in school. He has been using his talent / knowledge in electronics for escaping the school security system, and doing what he wants to do during class time. He’s been caught 3 times now, and has been warned. He knows exactly what he’s doing, and hopefully will learn his lesson when he has to use pen and paper to do assignments from now on.. we will see what a therapist can do for him.

In the meantime, we just continue to do what we do. School, work, gym, appointments, cleaning, laundry, cooking, eating out once in a while, running here and running there. so much going on.. just doing the Mom Stuff over here.

When you’re a 1 woman show, you do what you gotta do, so you can be where you need to be.

I don’t surf, but if life is anything like surfing those waves, I’m sure I could handle any big one that comes my way… (based on experience over the years with everything that has been thrown my way..) trust me!
